Staged in the 1970’s, this series of stories speaks of a time when African identity converged with American prosperity and struck palpable fear within the dominant majority. This fear promoted the rise of racial and ethnic stereotypes, and was met with an increased persistence for Black Americans to learn more about themselves. At the very core of this series lies the curious and persistent paradox of Black male empowerment and self-oppression. The aim of this course is to directly address this paradox and find your own balance within yourself.
