Standing on the shoulders of our Ancestors (empowered by their achievements) and encouraged by our present excellence, Black men today have a rich opportunity to transform stressful situations into successful opportunities. Doing so, while restoring a communal sense of brotherhood, is inherently empowering! Inadequate self-awareness and overwhelming social negation have presented an enormous contemporary opportunity: a KaIRas Imperative. To adequately address this unique historical moment, a keen sense of our manhood is required if we are to undertake the most effective efforts for self-empowerment in overcoming..
As a vital segment of our post-traumatically stressed African American people, Black men often react from an unconscious set of psychosomatic triggers. Social cues (i.e. name-calling and racist stereotypes) keep us consciously responding to the mere surface level of our limitations. To establish the crucial cognitive and emotional space between reacting - however appropriately - and responding, effective KaIRas interventions aim to facilitate an enhanced sense of self-awareness through our coaching programs. We can more consciously react and more effectively respond from a deeper knowledge of who we are and how we are "triggered." We utilize Gestalt techniques for understanding how past, figural life events and personal history (particularly early childhood events) are sources or "triggers" in the now. These past experiences become outmoded lenses for defining how we must live more fully in the present. Once clients clarify this "past-present hijack", we engage brothers with techniques as diffuse as breathing and meditation, somatic exertion, quantitative analyses of decision-making, and abstraction/exaggeration of consequences to expose hidden talents and obstructive misperceptions that unwittingly have limited the fullness of their human being. This increase in self-awareness, in turn, creates a generative quality of more self-determination. Men take greater control of their own becoming! Freedom from unknown biases and conditioned responses around identity, physicality, and the "soul's brothering" then liberates the vital space required to reflect upon the blessings of your precious gifts and personal assets within the various roles of your life. Once self-established, you will be able to redefine your way of "being a man" about the world! You will independently deploy and intentionally utilize the tools of your new awareness to sustain this more self-consciously empowered way of being. The unconscious becomes conscious, the past becomes a foundation for standing in the now, and the future becomes your own legacy to define! |

By doing so, we coach you in ways to maintain relevance to and respect from younger brothers. Elders as "Living Legacy" have far too few recognized and respected rites of passage as those found in our cultural traditions.
